as everyone knows that million of sperms r entered in an ejacution so onesperm fertilise with egg.............where r the sperms go????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean other sperms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They die off because only the sperm that makes it to the egg can live.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so they have lifespan.............................how much????????//

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

about 24 hours in the abdomen of a woman. however, most of them are flushed out before that. actually, the more interesting question is, why can't two or more sperm cells enter the egg cell? the answer is: upon entering the egg, the spermium triggers the release of calcium, cancelling the possibility for any other sperm cell to enter after the first one does.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's not like in the anime movies you watch in elementary schools ;-) not only one spermium makes it all the way to the egg :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The other sperms die and let the sperm that has fertilised to develop into the zygote.
