in the diagram above, I have draw the rela number line. so in a quiz, usually everyone starts off with zero points. so that would put them at the point corresponding to "0" in the diagram.
so if a person loses 2100 points, it means they move to the left of the zero ending up at -2100.
if they win 4100 points then they move to the right of the zero, ending up at +4100.

so loses 2100 points corresponds to the real number -2100,
and wins 4100 points corresponds to the real number +4100. normally we do not put the "+" symbol in for positive number, so we can just say that wins 4100 points corresponds to the real number 4100.
