Simplify the following expression. 2x - 2y + 5z - 2x - y + 3z

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how many xs do we have in total?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or better yet, it helps to put everything in order: 2x - 2y + 5z - 2x - y + 3z becomes: 2x - 2x - 2y - y + 5z + 3z then group them (2x - 2x) (-2y - y) (+5z + 3z) and place + signs between the ()...() (2x - 2x) + (-2y - y) + (5z + 3z) then its just a matter of doing the adding and subtracting

Okay so it would be, -3y+8z ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

yes
