I am starting programming for the first time, what advice do you have for me in term of course materials as i solely depend on this website?

There is the readings tab at http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-fall-2008/readings/ (uses a lot "How to Think Like a Computer Scientist"). For Python tutorials/help, I would recommend Learn Python the Hard Way, the Python docs/tutorial at python.org and TheNewBoston website. For outside reading/supporting readings, I think there is a Python book in the Head First series, but I am quite unsure.

If you want the build your basic building block the i have another tool for you.. use the NPTEL program that can help you to build your programming skills & u can also use this tool for the other subject.. or concept also... use this link & select the computer engineering.. the u got some useful video lectures by IIT Professors... http://nptel.iitm.ac.in/

You solely depend on the MIT 6.0 OCW website or you solely depend on the open study website? I think you'll get a good start in programming with the MIT 6.0 OCW web class.
