A circle graph! FOOD 35%, RENT 30%,CLOTHING 10% ,RECREATION 11%, MEDICAL & DENTAL 9%, Other 5%. suppose their annual income is $27,500. find the amount spent on each.. clothing..? rent..? other than rent and food..? i need help i don't know if i should subtract or divide

Are we assuming that all the income is spent on the expenses? If so you multiply her total income by the percentage. So for example to find the amount spent on food, you would do 27,500 * .35 which would yield $9625 spent on food. Same process for the rest.

how about when the question is asking two things like Food and clothing? the food % is 35% and clothing is 10% what would i do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then again you take the total income, since these percentages are of the total income, and multiply by the percentage. so for 35% it would be .35 * income. for 10% it would be .10 * income
