Most people here http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/random-news/142862-mystery-zero-resolved.html believe this is a complete hoax; "mathematics would have to be rewritten."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simply" what number times 0 gives 6"

OpenStudy (zarkon):

\[0\cdot\frac{6}{0}=\cancel{0}\cdot\frac{6}{\cancel{0}}=6\] ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yes, i forgot about that one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

across you believe it right?

OpenStudy (across):

Yeah, the zeroes just "cancel out." QED? No, I don't believe on this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"quod erat demonstrandum"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

QED=Mathematical jargon for "Booyah!"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is completely false. The only formal analysis of the meaning of division by zero was contemplated by a rather unknown mathematician (he's alive currently). He created what is called Wheel Theory. This is a type of algebra in which division by zero is defined and has meaning. It is in essence the only algebra made in which division by zero does not create triviality. See more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheel_theory .
