where does the calvin cycle take place

The calvin cycle takes place in the stroma of chloroplasts. It does not depend upon light and it can occur in either light or dark conditions, unlike photophosphorylation. Carbon dioxide from the air is used, 'fixed', to make organic molecules for the plant.
