The period is the amount of time it takes for the pendulum to return to a given poistion (or make a full swing back and forth). We see in your data table that for the pendulum to go from A to E takes 0.8 seconds. Because this it takes the same amount of time to return to A from E as it did to go from A to E, the period (time it takes to go from A to A again) is (time from A to E)+(time from E to A) 0.8+0.8=1.6 s
