who all was on the american's side in the cold war??

Basically: all NATO countries. The United Kingdom was probably the #1 ally. Then France and West Germany. Spain, Portugal, Italy, Norway, Iceland, Luxembourg. Most of the Asian countries (such as: Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines and even Pakistan!). And of course: the biggest neighbor: Canada. And the "more distant" neighbors: Australia and New Zealand.

Yes, MissPresident is right, in response to NATO being formed, the USSR made the Warsaw Pact.
