The main advantage of sexual reproduction is genetic variation between the parent and the offspring and this variation helps in evolution. This variation is obvious among humans but not so obvious in animals Why is this so?

I mean when you look at the offspring of a cat, there is not much difference that you can spot at once. In fact when the cat grows up into an adult, even then it will be very similar to its parent.

Well, this is a perceptual trick based upon WHO is observing who. Because you're human (rather than a cat) you're not going to notice all of the genetic subtlety that would readily apparent to your senses if you were a cat. Likewise, I'm sure to cats, most humans seem pretty similar.
