OpenStudy (asnaseer):

use the equation that gives you the solution to a general quadratic equation. i.e. for a general quadratic equation of the form:\[ax^2+bx+c=0\]where 'a', 'b' and 'c' are constants, the solutions are:\[x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\]in your case, a=1, b=7 and c=-5.
