Write the given expression as a single logarithm.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know how to do this problem but I am getting the wrong answer for some reason...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lemme rewrite that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why isnt (y-7)^3 on the top?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o nvm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thinking too fast :) is that what you had?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3x)^2 = 9x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no... i had ln [ (3x^2)(y-7)^3 / x^3 ]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea that's right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

except it's 9x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it keeps telling me im wrong no matter what i try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ln [ (9x^2)(y-7)^3 / x^3 ]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i have and its telling me im wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it reduces to 9(y-7)^3/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is still wrong -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...webassign is lying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it drives me nuts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe im supposed to multiply the 9 with the y and the -7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can u go to this link?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

TuringTest, if you're there, can you open the link above?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

\[\log{9(y-7)^3\over x}\] is wrong you say?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to log in to see it, I currently use webassign though and sometimes it does not like the format of answers. are you using log or ln? keep answer in same terms as the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive used both

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I can't seem to log into your site

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should probably talk to your teacher about that one, i don't see anything wrong with our answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nor does all of my references

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the link above jst had all the answers ive put in thus far... wanted you guys to see.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*just

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I can't log in, but my answer has to be correct. I'd bet on it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok it worked

OpenStudy (turingtest):

whew! I was afraid I was an idiot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was the parenthesis and the log

OpenStudy (turingtest):

ahhhhhhhhh I see it happens....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its weird though because i had similar prob before this one and it wanted the answer to be ln( ) not log( )

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I have had 3 or 4 nonsensical problems from these internet sites. I am beginning to think they are not to be trusted.

OpenStudy (turingtest):

^^^^ just today alone I mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for sure
