Ex. 4. Pi is an irrational number. Could Pi = 22/7? Why or why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

22/7 is only an approximate value for pi. It does not equal to pi, but it's close to pi

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

By the very definition of "irrational number", you cannot represent Pi as a fraction of two integers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kool just making sure I am on the right track

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

\[\pi\approx\frac{22}{7}\]irrational means it cannot be expressed as a fraction - as @jim said. so this is only an approximation.
