Similarities:

Jeannette's father and Francie's father are both alcoholic.

Jeannette and Francie both lived in poverty.

In the book, Glass Castle Jennette even references Francie's life as similar to hers because they both lived with hardships.

Their lives are realistic and relevant to many people.

Jeannette and Francie are both loved dearly by their fathers.
Differences:

Jeannette's mother, Rose Mary is so pessimistic, ignorant and very weak-- emotionally and mentally. Whereas, Francie's mother, Katie is strong, determined and neither optimistic and pessimistic-- she's realistic.
