x^4-24x-25 in factor complete?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help

OpenStudy (agreene):

You can take a factor of x-1 out of this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't get it

OpenStudy (agreene):

x+1 I mean, my bad.

OpenStudy (agreene):

(x+1)(x^3-x^2-25) Thats the normal factorization. You can technically do a better version, but it's a bit more annoying.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

I think is should be:\[x^4-24x-25=(x+1)(x^3-x^2+x-25)\]see here: http://www2.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x%5E4-24x-25

OpenStudy (agreene):

Indeed... I got sloppy when I was looking at this.

cool
