Wow folks, sorry about the down time. Our server decided rebooting would be a good idea. We're working on tracking down the reason; in the meantime, everything should be back to normal!

k good, cuz the server just went "the server can not be contacted at this time" and then it just put me out i tried to get back on a lot but it was down and then i saw this cute pic saying OWL BE BAK!

Yeah, sorry about that :( We should have noticed faster, but our monitoring service seems to have simultaneously decided that a server that wasn't working was totally not a big deal..

yes I tried to answer a question. when I clicked on post it said sorry, google chrome could not connect to the server at openstudy.

is there any chance you guys could put up a page somewhere that displayed the service history of the site?
e.g. when it went down, for how long, main causes, etc?
might even be worth showing some sort of graph that would indicate how stable it was.

I don't know how big your team is, but it might also be worth putting up a beta page whenever new features are being added to allow a select group to try it out before releasing it out to the wild. I'd be more than happy to be part of the beta testing program.

asnaseer—someday, perhaps. At the moment the site isn't part of a critical infrastructure, so we're focusing on other things.

We actually do have a core group of users that tries features before they go out into the wild; I'll see what we can do about getting you on it. We have a pretty small team (1 full-time developer, though that's about to change, and only three other full-timers, with a few part-time interns).

The leaderboards may well be back in the future, but I'm not sure when exactly.

In seriousness, along with writing a reasonable chunk of the OpenStudy codebase, I guide the people writing the rest of it, such as mattfeury and dpflan.
