iven that sin(22.5 deg) = sqrt(2-sqrt(2))/2, cot(22.5) = ?s

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What you are supposed to figure out from that problem is that it is a half-angle formula and the angle is 45 degrees. So use the tangent half angle formula using a u value of 45 degrees. You will find that the tangent of 22.5 is (1-cos 45)/sin45. Take the reciprocal which is sin45/1-cos45 and that will be the cotangent. So after simplification, it turns out to be sqrt2/(2-sqrt2)

i cant have a root in the denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Then multiply the numerator and the denominator by 2+sqrt2 and get rid of it.

no it worked thanks a lot

OpenStudy (mertsj):
