I do. I never learned logarithms or whatever branch of math they fall into in high school really. So i skipped problem 2 of set 1. any help is appreciated.

The only formula you need to do that part of the problem is log(ab) = log(a) + log(b). It turns multiplications into additions. Other than that, they give you everything you need in the problem set pdf. And there's always wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logarithm.
