- "What caused the civil war to die out?" - I am asking this question for my friend. I want to help her. Not sure of the question? Why did it end?
1) The North had a supremacy of man power, manufacturing, and technology in comparison to the South

2) The South was cut off from it's major trading partners, so it lacked all supplies.

3) Foreign nations wouldn't recognize The South and help them militarily.
