.05(x) = .05x .01(2x) = .02x .1(x+7) = .1x+.7
I hope that makes sense
You take each value in terms of x and multiply it by the value of each cent So if you have x nickels, to find the value of it, multiply it by the value of a nickel which is .05 For example, you have 5 nickels.... to find the value of that multiply .05(5) = .25
Because you know that 5 nickels equal $0.25 or 25 cents
