If you quote someone else in your personal journal, then yes, you have to cite your sources. You can write your personal journal in an APA format -not a problem. It actually is a pretty decent idea, because it will keep things pretty organized. But VERY RARELY people write their journals in any specific format, unless they are directed to do so.
