Can someone explain to me how to perform series comparison test for convergence using an example of a convergent and a divergent. Can someone explain to me how to perform series comparison test for convergence using an example of a convergent and a divergent. @Mathematics

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if i recall this, if you know a series that is greater in degree than the suspect series converges; then the suspect series converges

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you know a series of lesser degree diverges, then the suspect series diverges

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i got no idea how to example that tho ;)

;) So if I have something that looks like \[1/4n^2\] I can compare it to \[1/n^2\] ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you should be able to if you know how 1/4n^2 behaves ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1/n^2 is greater than 1/4n^2 so if 1/n^2 converges than 1/4n^2 has to converge

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1/n^2 diverges, and since its greater than 1/4n^2 that would not be adequate to know of 1/4n^2 converges or not
