2x+15 =-5x+ 43

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7x = 28 x = 4

how ? I'm so confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2x+15 =-5x+ 43\] \[2x+5x+15=-5x+5x+43\] \[7x+15=43\] subtract 15 from both sides to get \[7x+15-15=43-15\] \[7x=28\] divide both sides by 7 to get \[\frac{7x}{7}=\frac{28}{7}\] \[x = 4\]

thanks, that helps a lot.
