I spend 12 1/2% of my money to buy a book. If i still have $63 left. How much is the book? I spend 12 1/2% of my money to buy a book. If i still have $63 left. How much is the book? @Mathematics

OpenStudy (matt101):

If $63 are left after 12.5% of the money was spent, $63 must account for the other 87.5%. If x is the total amount of money to begin with, then 63/x = 0.875 --> x = 72. You can see then that the book cost 72-63 = $9.
