graph the function. specity the vertex, axis of symmetry, max and min value and intercepts s=-1/4t^2+t-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i take it this is \[s(t)=-\frac{1}{4}t^2+t-1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for vertex ( and axis of symmetry) use \[t=-\frac{b}{2a}\] with \[a=-\frac{1}{4},b=1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or if you really want to be clever write it as \[s(t)=-\frac{1}{4}(t-2)^2\]and observe that it is a parabola that opens down the vertex at (2,0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is the vertex anfd the axis the same thing?
