How long does it take to dig 14 holes? Assumptions: Holes are hand dug by a shovel. Hole depth minimum is 4' (below local frost line). Hole width - enough to accomodate a Squarefoot SF28 cement form (28" x 28" square). Number of holes is 14. Estimates: Determine the amount of soil that can be removed by a shovel. Determine the number of shovels full of dirt that can be made per unit of time.

Anyone can you help me?

OpenStudy (preetha):

princess, I do not see any information about time? You can calculate the volume of the 14 holes and the dirt, but nothing about the time. Also there is no information about the volume of earth removed by each shovel's worth of digging. Looks incomplete.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you supposed to make your own estimates about the rate of shoveling by doing an experiment?

OpenStudy (preetha):

Good point Ktklown. Basically we need more info.
