Your introduction basically tells what your going to talk about, briefly. This is your thesis - what your essay is about. There are several really good sites available that give some info about this. http://owl.english.purdue.edu/ is one source I would recommend. Ask your prof. Most of all, keep it simple and to the point.

Try to put at least one sentence in there that grabs the attention of your audience. Make your stand and let your audience know what it is about to read without giving away the whole thing.
