He was suspended about 55 minutes ago. Well, Peak times being 11am-10pm EST - but generally it is quick if the report is conclusive.

Sometimes we get abuse reports where it's not obvious from the reported content exactly what the abuse was. But in clear cases we take action immediately. So suresh was reported abusive at 4:05pm EST, suspended at 4:10pm EST

well, it depends on the offense. What happens is we look through all of that user's recent interactions on the site (we have a separate page for this) - If the user is trolling/blatantly offensive, the account is never reactivated. That is actually the most common case. If it looks like the user could be spoken to and told what's ok/not ok, sometimes we reach out to the user via email to let them know, and if they agree, we will reactivate their account on a trial basis.

We're pretty clear that this is not a dating site, and we have a zero tolerance policy for anything in the domain of sexual harassment (e.g. Suresh)

we will not reinstate his account =). So, forever! Let us know if he comes back on under a different name, and we can look into a more severe (IP) ban.

Well, he will use the same lame chat tactics, and generally you can tell from the pattern. If you see someone who's behaving like he was, report abuse and mention "looks like Suresh who was banned previously". We'll check to see if he's signing on from the same IP address but different user account, and if so, block that ip address.
