A line in the Cartesian plane passes through the points (−2,4) and (2,−1). What are the rise and the run of the line? and how to solve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rise is \[y_2-y_1\] run is \[x_2-x_1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in other words from x = -2 to x = 2 is 4 steps to the right. that is the "run" and from 4 to -1 is 5 steps down, so your "rise" is -5 therefore your slope is \[\frac{-5}{4}\]

Thank You very much
