What are some differences between oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tumor suppressor genes are DNA segments that promote apoptosis and prevent the "over growth" of cells. Oncogenes are DNA segments that promote growth and proliferation of cells and inhibit apoptosis. If an oncogene gets out of control, a tumor can form.
