what happens to 10^n if n is large and positive? large and negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

large and positive - its value increases. large and negative - its value decreases to much less than 1.

OpenStudy (fretje):

You get a cypher 1 with n zero's behind it. Ex: 10^4 gives 1 with 4 zero's = 10000

OpenStudy (fretje):

n is negative : you get a number that is the same as before (with a positive n) but it is reciproque: 1÷(10n) so the result is here: 1 over the big number, which is with increasing n approaching zero. Or thus we get a cypher 1 with the comma moved n positions to the right. Ex: 10^-4 gives 0.0001
