Hope Many times I sit here and wonder, Will I ever be happy again? What is happiness, will I ever feel it? What is love? Why is this sadness encircling my heart? Why is this pain constantly around? Please just let me smile, Teach me how to be happy again. Show me the good and the joyful laughter In every moment of life. Please just return the twinkle back to my eyes. Please someone out there, I beg you. Help me. Just show me life and love. Make me cry tears of happiness And smile far greater than words. what else should i add?

Add the insight that sadness and reflection on what might have beens et cetera is just as much a part of life as is joy and triumph, and fulfills a very necessary role -- of teaching us to learn from our mistakes, and of setting up the groundwork for greater happiness later. That way your poem will rise considerably above the Woe Is Me nature of much lovelorn poetry.
