I just don't know the difference between Laplace smoothing and Laplacian smooting!
It deals with the problem that training data can under specify probabilities. Go to unit 5, part 13 and onwards.
It's also featured in Markov Models.
I know. But the example he gives in unit 5 very nice illustrates the problem of over fitting and motivates the introduction of Laplacian smoothing.
Is it called Laplace smoothing or Laplacian Smoothing?
