Answer this question only if you have read the book To Kill A Mockingbird.: How does the setting (Time, place, social environment)determine the actions in the novel?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The story is placed in a time where desegregation is still a new concept, and in a town where old traditions are still strongly believed, the belief that blacks and whites are two separate beings and blacks are beneath whites. Because of that, lynching was still socially acceptable, seen when the mad tried to lynch Tom (dont remembe rif thats his name, the black guy). And court rulings were biased and based on skin colour.
