Need help please!! John began his job making $25 the first day. After that he was paid $6.75 per hour.Make a T-table for the equation for this, using the x-values 0, 20, 40. Type in the ordered pairs you get as your answer, in this form: (0, number), (20, number), (40, number).

OpenStudy (fretje):

pairs are formed with the absis and ordinate (x,y) while the function y=f(x)=25+6,75*x solving for y gives for the x values 0,20,40 respectively : 25/160/295 so the cpouples are (0,25),(20,160),(40,295).

How did you get that... I'm still confused...

We need to have a view on John's money bag on certain times. For time I chose variable X, supposing time is linear. There is a relation between that time and the money in the pocket of John. The total amount of money it contains I called variable Y. Let us find the relation. In the question is stated on time zero (after zero hours of work, or thus after the first day) John has 25$. From then on I suppose the time starts counting, and every hour he gets another 6,75$. This is a linear equation first degree, with two unknowns, and with initial condition not zero. Hence the form Y=Constant+a.X where Constant is 25$ (his initial amount), and the slope of the function 'a' is 6.75$/hour (we call that slope ri.co. or Richtingscoefficient) I can see why different interpretations of the question are possible. I hope I got it right. I am tired, if still not clear, can you please explain your confusion? |dw:1383675188135:dw|
