Can someone explain this in 12 yr old form on how to do this ? 3w+3+2w=18 PS you gotta find out what w means ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3w and 2w are like terms. you can combine them, which will equal 5w. now you have 5w+3=18 remember you always want to get the variable alone, so you want to subtract 3 from both sides. 5w=15 (i subtracted 3 from 18) now, when 5 and w are together like that, it means multiplying, but we want to do the opposite of multiplying, which is dividing. we need to cancel out 5 to get the variable by itself so 5 divided by 15 equals 3 your answer is w=3
