Can someone explain to me what the "Mean Fit Line" is? and correlations
Usually a "mean fit line" is a line drawn through a set of data points that minimizes the distance of the line from the points.
^ how do you know where to draw the line?
Most commonly, a mathematical technique called "linear regression" is used.
ohh how do i do that?
Well, it's pretty complicated to do by hand, most commonly people use software to compute it. Can you tell me more about the problem you're trying to solve?
The question was an experiment to determine if mark scores on a test were related to the number of hours of television watched. andit gave me data and i had to draw a scatter plot
but i dont know where to draw the mean fit line
are you allowed to use a computer?
no but it says a mean fit line ,, to find the mean coordinates of a set of points nu calculating the mean of the first set of data and then the second set of data
and about the same number of points have to be on each side
Well you can find a linear regression calculator here: http://easycalculation.com/statistics/regression.php That will tell you where to draw the line if you tell it all the X,Y pairs in your scatter plot
ok THANNK YOU :)
actually, this one is even better, because it will also draw the line (and scatter plot) for you: http://www.alcula.com/calculators/statistics/linear-regression/
