okay so 1/4 of an inch goes to 12 feet. what's the ratio between those?
okay, can you come up with a single number that represents the ratio between the two? Note you'll have to do a unit conversion.

for example if the scale were 2 inches : 6 inches, the ratio would be 6 inches/ 2 inches = 3, i.e. things in real life are 3x as big as they are on the map. can you compute a similar ratio for your problem?
