1/5 to 1/2. Is it possible to turn them into ratios against one another like 1/5 : 1/2 but into whole numbers? I dont think it is. Im just confused by my homework's instructions.

If you say 1/5 : 1/2 ...could you not just multiply both sides by 10? Then you would get 2:5.

Oh I see. So if they share a common denominator just multiply them both then you get the whole number right?
