A school is ordering pencils for its students. The principal estimates that each student will use 30 pencils in one school year. The function y = 30x describes the total number of pencils, y, that the principal should order for x students. Which set of terms best describes the function y = 30x in this scenario? (2 points) A) discrete and linear B) discrete and non-linear C) continuous and linear D) continuous and non-linear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's linear 100% and probably discrete but i'm not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A) discrete and linear

myininaya (myininaya):

i think it is discrete since the amount of students can only be represented by an integer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but we don't know amount of students it can even be infinity or no? :D

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I agree with myininaya, it can only take on integer values, you can't order half a pencil. On the other hand it is plotted linearly...

myininaya (myininaya):

you can not have 3.5 or the sqrt(3) students |dw:1321998121564:dw|
