Simplify the expression: 3(xy)^3 over 27x-5y^3

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

This cannot be simplified.

OpenStudy (agreene):

it can... kinda... by technicality.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a fraction tho the first equation is over the second i didn't know how to do equations on this so thats why i said over

OpenStudy (agreene):

\[\frac{-81 x^4}{5 (5 y^3-27 x)}-\frac{3 x^3}5\] is considered more simple because you dont have a y in your numerator (therefore less steps must be taken to evaluate)... even though it seems more complex.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a y in the numerator

OpenStudy (agreene):

there isn't one in my answer.
