18-2q=4

OpenStudy (ny,ny):

do i subtract 18 from both sides?

OpenStudy (lilg132):

18 - 2q = 4 so you bring 18 to the other side which turns it from a positive number to a negative so you will get -2q = 4 - 18 -2q = -14 -q = -7 because we have minus q we need to change both sides to a positive so simply make them both positive q = 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah you can subtract both sides by 18 and then divide both sides by -2

OpenStudy (ny,ny):

but I can also do 18-2q=4 take away 18 from both sides, now it becomes 2q=-14 divide by 2 on both sides q=7 this way is also acceptable, right?

OpenStudy (lilg132):

yes right

OpenStudy (ny,ny):

i have to go now. Thanks so much. Wish me luck on my quiz tomorrow!

OpenStudy (lilg132):

good luck

OpenStudy (ny,ny):
