How would you paraphrase this sentence? "Because their words had forked no lightning they"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Because their words had forked no lightning" ("they" must belong to the next line of the stanza). Now, about the paraphrase... Because their conversation did not give a breakthrough. Because their words did not bring attention. Because their verbal expression did not spark a revolution.

Would another way be: Because their words did not have any meaning?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do not see why not :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, I think this might be a double-entante. Forked words, not like lightning...could mean they were deceptive words (as in "forked tongue") lacking any inspiring quality ("no lightning").
