If an equation has a positive discriminant, how many times will the graph touch the x–axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know the quadratic equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, let's start with that; do you know what a discriminant is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i apologize

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this a section on quadratic equations in your book?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but its a virtual class we have no text book

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK. Did you have a section where you learned how to find the solutions to a quadratic equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the discriminant of a quadratic equation is positive, it has two roots - thus it crosses the x-axis twice. You should read up on what discriminants are =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I weep for the future.
