OpenStudy (lilg132):

\[r ^{2} + 3r - 5 = 0\]

OpenStudy (lilg132):

a = 1 b = 3 c = -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r^2+3r-5=0?

OpenStudy (lilg132):

use that equation now with the formula to work out what r is

OpenStudy (lilg132):

you should get r = -4.192582403 r = 1.191582403

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this where i use the fraction thing?

OpenStudy (lilg132):

yes lol the fraction thing is called the quadratic formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol sorry im just use to using terms that help me rem better lol

OpenStudy (lilg132):

just remember in the formula where it says -b if the value of b is already a minus '-' then it will be a positive in the formula e.g. if b = -3 in the formula you would write 3 instead of -3
