I am writing a definition essay and I have to define what my term is in this paragraph. I was wondering if this was good for defining my term:

Pride is, as defined in Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, the quality or state of being proud as inordinate self-esteem (conceit), a reasonable or justifiable self-respect, delight or elation arising from some act, possession, or relationship, proud or disdainful behavior or treatment (disdain), and ostentatious display.

You are missing some semi-colons, use them to separate the different meanings of the word. You also need to know who your audience is. I would suggest, that after this, you restate what was said in your own words, or in simpler terms that could help you connect with your audience.
