I am writing a definition essay and I have to define what my term is in this paragraph. I was wondering if this was good for defining my term:

Pride is, as defined in Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, the quality or state of being proud as inordinate self-esteem (conceit), a reasonable or justifiable self-respect, delight or elation arising from some act, possession, or relationship, proud or disdainful behavior or treatment (disdain), and ostentatious display.

I have a dictionary on my Mac computer (not sure which dictionary it is), but I like its definition much more, because it is easier to comprehend. I hope it helps you: 

Pride: a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.
