When water waves approach a shallower media this will cause a change in velocity, magnitude will decrease and wave direction will move toward the normal line, therefore wave fronts (the wavelength) will decrease

remember (wavelength above block < general wavelength) and since the frequency is set at the source of the waves a shorter wavelength will produce a smaller speed
