What is the difference between a function and an operator (mathematics)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

operator are +,-,* and so on function is a thing that returns value when you input something for eg...for function f(x)=2x, if you input your value x=1 then function will return 2......in other words, f(1)=2..... importances of function can be seen only when you come to computing
