2. Use the five-step plan to solve the following problem. 1) What are the possible lengths and widths of a rectangle if its length is 8 centimeters longer than the width, and the area is less than or equal to 33 square centimeters? a.Identify. b.Strategize. c.Set up. d.Solve. e.Check.

OpenStudy (turingtest):

step a.\[P=x+y\]\[A =xy\]here are your equations now "identify" what we know about these variables so we can put number in and solve it? What is the restriction on the area? What do we know about x and y?

thx

OpenStudy (turingtest):

ok another tip then: "its length is 8 centimeters longer than the width" how do you srite that mathematically? how does that effect the equations I gave you, which should be\[ P=2x+2y\] btw, sorry bout that

Identify means to define variables Stategize means to express the problem to be solved and express what needs to be used in order to find the solution Set up means to write the equations in terms of the variables defined Solve means to solve the equation in terms of the relevant variables. Check means to place the variable or variables back into the original equation to make sure everything is correct.
